WHAT WE USE
Professional DJ equipment

Top of the range Pioneer CDJ’s and a pioneer mixer encased in a tidy Pioneer road case.

ADVANTAGES
Pitch control - allows the DJ to adjust the BPM to match the speed of both songs and fluently mix the music in.

Effects - ability to add cool effects such as scratching and also filter and phase effects for smoother blending of the songs.

WHAT THE COMPEITION USES
Discmans and average home stereo CD players.

Disadvantage
No pitch control so the speed of the music cannot be altered, therefore it cannot be matched with the next song, leaving gaps in the music.

Doesn’t read MP3. Reduces Dj’s ability to be creative.

WHAT WE USE
Lighting

Industry appraised Martin intelligent effects lights. The lights shoot out an array of colored beams and patterns and are beat censored.

ADVANTAGES
Synchronisation of lights with the music
The lights have sensors which pick up the bass line of the music, and they tell the light to move with the beat of the music.

Patterns and shapes
The lights shoot out 18 beams, 23 colours and 8 different combinations of shapes and patterns, which make for a great atmosphere

WHAT THE COMPEITION USES
Traffic light boxes (often described as light shows with no further details

Disadvantage
Creates a very “no frills” image. The lights are not beat censored so they move on their own accord and are not synchronised with the music.

WHAT WE USE
Sound system

A pair of highly reputable Australian Monitor powered speakers on sturdy stands, capable of handling up to 200 people

ADVANTAGES
Crystal clear sound
The speakers offer great bass and excellent top end clarity for vocals.

Quality assurance
Our speakers are purchased from a speaker manufacturer. They build speakers for a living, and this means they are tested vigorously to offer the upmost reliability and quality

WHAT THE COMPEITION USES
Home made speakers made by the DJ companies themselves who are not specialist speaker manufacturers

Disadvantage
Poor sound quality- Cheap subs and diaphragms which have poor clarity.

Speaker failure - Due to the speakers being assembled by the DJ companies, they are often not tested vigorously and are commonly known to fail. They are also of poorer sound quality

WHAT WE USE
Music

Each DJ carries a case with over 5000 songs. A track list is available and DJ’s are also open to requests and also playing some of your cd’s

ADVANTAGES
A mix of music

Track list
A list can be emailed to you so you can pre choose songs if you like.

Good quality music
All our music is purchased and not illegally downloaded, which makes for better quality sound

Requests
Our DJ’s are always happy to play your requests

WHAT THE COMPEITION USES
Illegally downloaded music, and often lack of variety and willingness to play requests

Disadvantage
Many DJ’s download music from file sharing websites. These songs are usually poor quality as they are ripped from the radio or cd’s. Some DJ’s will not be able to provide you with a list, which makes it hard to know exactly what you are getting. Some DJ’s will just play set styles and will not be open to requests.

WHAT WE USE
Microphone

Each DJ comes equipped with a reliable Austool microphone

ADVANTAGES
Crystal clear microphone without static
WHAT THE COMPEITION USES
Poor quality microphones

Disadvantage
Some operators have poor quality microphones that give of ear piercing feedback which interrupts speeches

WHAT WE USE
Smoke/fog machine

Each DJ comes equipped with a smoke machine which produces a dense white fog to enhance the lighting effects

ADVANTAGES
Fills the dance area fast
160 m³/min fog output. Has a control so the DJ can press when needed
WHAT THE COMPEITION USES
Often not included by DJ companies as a measure to save cost.

Disadvantage
Lack of light enhancement- without smoke, the lights are not used to their full potential as the smoke helps to illuminate the beams across the room
